Support and Wisdom in one
We are honoured to share that Lakota elder, teacher, musician, and international speaker Tiokasin Ghosthorse has generously donated 50 copies of his book, Butterfly Against the Wind, to support a cause close to his heart.
Every book sold through Mystic Bone will help raise funds for Native American communities, with all proceeds being donated directly to support charitable work on Native American reservations. Only the delivery cost will be deducted.
This is more than a book sale. It is an opportunity to support Indigenous communities while receiving the wisdom of one of the most respected Native voices of our time.

Who is this book for?
Butterfly Against the Wind is for those who feel that modern life has become disconnected from something essential. It speaks to readers who are searching for deeper meaning, a stronger relationship with nature, a greater understanding of Indigenous wisdom, or a different perspective on what it means to be human.
Rather than offering quick answers, this book encourages reflection on some of life's most important questions. How do we reconnect with the natural world? What have we forgotten about our relationship with the Earth? Why do so many people feel disconnected, despite living in an age of constant information and technology? Through stories, teachings, and insights rooted in Lakota wisdom, Tiokasin Ghosthorse invites readers to slow down, question assumptions, and explore a more relational way of being in the world.
This book will resonate with seekers, nature lovers, spiritual explorers, Indigenous allies, and anyone curious about perspectives that offer profound connections.

What makes this book different?
Many books about spirituality, personal growth, or Indigenous wisdom are written to teach, explain, or offer solutions. Butterfly Against the Wind takes a different approach.
Rather than telling readers what to believe, Tiokasin Ghosthorse invites them into a different way of seeing. Drawing upon Lakota perspectives, the book challenges many of the assumptions that underpin modern life, including our relationship with time, nature, identity, progress, and even language itself.
What makes this book especially unique is that it is not a second-hand interpretation of Indigenous teachings. It comes directly from a respected Lakota elder whose life has been dedicated to sharing his people's wisdom while remaining deeply rooted in his culture and traditions.
Readers often find that the book does not simply provide information, it creates reflection. It encourages you to slow down, listen more deeply, and question ideas that may have gone unchallenged for too long.

Why This Matters
Many Native American reservations continue to face significant social and economic challenges. For many years, Tiokasin Ghosthorse worked alongside organisations supporting Lakota communities on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, helping bring awareness, resources, youth programmes, and culturally centred care to Native families and children.
By purchasing this book, you are helping continue the spirit of that work.
You are supporting communities, preserving culture, and contributing to initiatives that seek to create brighter futures for Indigenous children and families.
A Personal Note From Star
Many years ago, I attended one of Tiokasin Ghosthorse's seminars, an experience that would leave a lasting mark on my life.
The way Tiokasin weaves philosophy, Indigenous wisdom, and practical, grounded understanding together is truly unique. As he spoke, I had the feeling that the knowledge flowing through him was coming from a deeper place, something lived, embodied, and intimately connected to the natural world. It was not simply information to be learned, it was wisdom to be felt. I could sense it throughout my body and spirit.
One of the teachings that has stayed with me ever since was his perspective on the phrase "save the Earth." He explained that when we say we must save the Earth, it can subtly place humanity above nature, as though we are separate from it or somehow responsible for its survival. Instead, he taught the importance of humility, of remembering that we are part of the Earth, not above it, and that our role is to work in cooperation with nature rather than imagining ourselves superior to it.
He also spoke about language, the power of words, and the energy carried within them. He shared how many Indigenous languages communicate in ways that extend beyond simple definition, carrying layers of energy, meaning, and connection to the living world. Understood by animals and nature, Indigenous languages carry 22 dimensions. However The English language, carries over 1000 extra words, yet only 3 dimensions. It was one of the first times I had deeply considered that words themselves shape how we experience reality.
What struck me most was that his teachings stayed with you long after the seminar ended. You did not need to memorise every sentence because the essence of what he shared settled somewhere deeper.
Something I never told Tiokasin was what happened when I left that day.
As I walked away carrying my newly purchased copy of Butterfly Against the Wind, I noticed a butterfly struggling against a strong wind. It was being tossed from side to side, fighting to maintain its course, until eventually it found shelter beneath a nearby tree.
I stopped and looked down at the book in my hands.
Butterfly Against the Wind.
In that moment, I knew I would never forget that day.
It felt as though life had offered me a small reminder to pay attention.
Years later, I am honoured to be able to share this book with others, knowing that it carries the same spirit of reflection, connection, and understanding that touched me all those years ago.
